Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her guidance and determination to enhancing South African Social Security Company (SASSA) expert services during an engagement using the agency's senior supervisors at a strategic arranging session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the many social grant beneficiaries, who excelled while in the 2024 matric exams.
Of the 724 156 full-time learners who registered to the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% in the registered pupils from the training sector.
These learners reached a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the investment national government is building inside the lives of lousy and vulnerable kids is yielding a positive impression in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe explained.
